Cleveland, OH – The city of Cleveland is eagerly preparing to host the 53rd edition of the Annual Puerto Rican Parade, a vibrant and colorful celebration that showcases the art, culture, and music of Puerto Rico. This highly anticipated event will take place at the MetroHealth Main Campus Medical Center – QUAD PARK and offer an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
A Festival of Rhythm and Flavor
The Cleveland Puerto Rican EXPO 2023 promises to be a weekend filled with fun and entertainment for all ages. Starting on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 11 a.m., attendees can enjoy live music from international artists performing salsa, bachata, and merengue, ensuring everyone will be dancing to the beat of the Caribbean island.
Merengue enthusiasts can’t miss the performance of Richard Nivar “El Flaquito con Swing” and his orchestra RIKA SWING, direct from Puerto Rico. The former member of the Karis group will delight his fans with his unmistakable style and new songs during the Puerto Rican Parade and Festival in Cleveland, OH.
Additionally, from New York, the exciting La Jara Band will take the stage. Founded in 1969 by Miguel Rosario with the collaboration of singer and composer Johnnie Vega, La Muralla is known for its dynamic vocalists, tight percussion, and vibrant wind section, which will surely captivate the audience during this cultural celebration.

The Expo and Parade are not only a feast of music and dance but also a moment to recognize and honor outstanding individuals in the community. In 2023, Cleveland takes pride in paying tribute to four exemplary personalities:
- Jaime Garay LISW-S MBA, Grand Marshal: A visionary leader and professional committed to social service and improving the lives of many in the community.
- Irwin Caraballo, Padrino: An outstanding advocate for the rights and well-being of the Puerto Rican community in Cleveland.
- Mary Malavé, Madrina: A passionate defender of Puerto Rican culture and traditions.
- Alivia Alicea, Miss Teen Puerto Rico 2023: A talented and promising young representative who embodies hope and the future of the community.
Celebrating Culture and Preserving History
The Puerto Rican Parade of Cleveland has been an annual observation of Puerto Rican arts and culture since the late 1960s. Its purpose has been to bring together the city’s residents and educate the community about the rich and diverse culture of Puerto Rico.
