The Mexican Committee of Cleveland is proud to announce the celebration of Mexican Independence Day, a festivity that brings with it an explosion of Mexican culture, music, and tradition. This event, considered one of the most important in Mexico, will come to life in Cleveland on Saturday, September 16th, from 6 to 8 pm, at the iconic Centennial Peace Plaza located at 1051 Martin Luther King Blvd. This year, we are excited to introduce a rising star and a talented voice from our community: Rubí Sanz.
Rubí Sanz: A Promising Voice From Michoacán to Cleveland
Rubí Sanz, originally from Michoacán, Mexico, has become a prominent figure in the Cleveland music scene. One of the most outstanding moments in her career occurred in 2021 when she was crowned the winner of the “Best Voice of the Patriotic Holidays” contest in Uruapan, Michoacán. This achievement not only catapulted her to fame but also solidified her position as one of the most promising voices in the region.
But her journey to musical success didn’t stop there. In 2016, Rubí took on a new challenge by becoming the guitarist and lead vocalist of the all-female mariachi group “Las Tarascas de Morelia.” This experience further enriched her musical repertoire and allowed her to explore different genres and styles within Mexican music. After this stage, Rubí formed her own acoustic group, “Esencia Caoba,” where she continued to delight her audience with her unique voice and guitar skills.
A Festival of Mexican Culture and Tradition
In addition to Rubí Sanz’s performance, the event will feature other exciting activities to celebrate Mexico’s rich culture. Jesús Agüero will also be performing, delighting the audience with his extensive repertoire of Latin and Mexican music, accompanied by his guitar. It will be an evening filled with authentic music and passion.
To enrich the cultural experience, there will be an Aztec dance performance, led by talented artists who will take the audience on a journey through ancient Mexican traditions. Additionally, the Florkoriko Dancers will be part of the celebration, providing an impressive display of Mexican folk dances.
Not to forget, there will be much more to enjoy at this Mexican Independence Day celebration in Cleveland, from delicious Mexican food to family-friendly activities.
This Saturday, September 16th, at the Centennial Peace Plaza to celebrate this significant date in Mexico’s history. Bring your family and friends to experience a night full of music, culture, and Mexican tradition. Viva México!
